ABOUT US
The National Council of Negro
Women, Inc. at Florida State University is a voluntary membership, student organization helping
women of color to improve the quality of life for themselves while at the university. Through it's affiliate organizations and
network with other student organizations, the National Council of Negro Women at Florida State University has an outreach to
hundreds of women in the campus community.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to lead, develop and
advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and
communities. We fulfill our mission through research, advocacy and
national and community-based health, education and economic empowerment
services and programs in the United States and Africa.
OUR HISTORY
National Council of Negro Women at Florida State University was chartered on February 10th, 1999. The Founder saw the need for
Tallahassee to have a specific “organization of organizations” to serve
as an impulse for the activities of women of color on the Florida State
University campus. We seek to fill the gaps that exist within the
campus community, particularly in meeting the concerns of women of
color. Through our eager and diligent volunteers, the National Council of Negro Women at Florida State University
addresses local needs of students through organized strategies. Whatever
the undertaking, the National Council of Negro Women at Florida State University brings the added support of a
network of women whose collective efforts can booster community service
and actions.
